Good News for Animals in Need of a Rescuer!

Two animal rights activists rescued a pair of abused baby piglets from a factory farm and brought them to an animal sanctuary to receive needed medical attention and care. The FBI thereafter raided the animal sanctuary and took the piglets because Smithfield Farm is a powerful $24 billion corporation with massive influence over the US government and its FBI.

This week the jury decided the two activists are not guilty on all charges, deeming the rescue was similar to a person rescuing a dog from a hot car. This trial sets a precedent for the right to rescue animals from cruel institutions. What will happen next? Will we see more open rescues from factory farms? Will it expand to laboratories, zoos, circuses, fur farms, and other places of animal imprisonment and torture? Will the same precedent be followed in future trials? It’s all yet to be determined, but one thing is for certain: two brave activists risked their freedom to give freedom to the captive piglets, who were given the names Lily and Lizzie. We pray more people would embody the spirit of Christ in our attitude toward God’s creatures, and that they would boldly put Isaiah 61:1 into practice:

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1, NIV).
